We're Abingdon Labour

Part of the Oxford & District Labour Party, one of the most active local Labour parties in the country.

We’re delivering for our communities, we’re ambitious for our town and country, and we work hard while staying in touch all year round – not just at election time.

Stephen Webb

Your Labour District Council Candidate, Abbey Northcourt Ward

Bath Street, Abingdon

I’m really proud to have been chosen as the Labour candidate for Abingdon Abbey Northcourt (Vale of White Horse District Council) where there is a by-election on Thursday 12 March.

I’ve lived locally for over 16 years, work in science funding strategy, and will be a familiar face if you have seen Abingdon Operatic Society perform!

I’ve been listening to neighbours to understand what issues matter most to you. Residents have previously told me they would like to see a more attractive town centre, better facilities for older children, and more affordable quality council housing.

I am passionate about having a safe and thriving town centre, excellent public transport that takes people to anywhere they need to get to affordably and quickly, and ensuring that everyone benefits from local developments, such as the AI Growth Zone at Culham or the Abingdon Reservoir.

I really enjoy living in Abingdon because it is a community-spirited town. I would love to represent our community and work alongside you to make Abingdon an even better place to live for everyone.

Ellie Boseley

Your Labour Town Council Candidate, Abbey Ward

Lombard Street, Abingdon

Having spent my career in public sector media relations, working to protect consumers – whether that’s ensuring safety or defending their rights – I’ve become skilled at understanding complex issues quickly and communicating them clearly. Those skills naturally lend themselves to local public service, and they’re a big part of why I’m standing as a candidate for Abingdon Town Council on Thursday 12 March.

After two years of living above the high street, I’ve grown to really appreciate what makes this town special, while also seeing the areas where small but meaningful improvements could genuinely enhance daily life.

One of the things I care most deeply about is making sure our streets and roads work well for everyone – especially pedestrians. Abbey Ward is full of families, older residents, and people who walk every day, and I want to help ensure that getting around feels safe, intuitive, and accessible. Whether it’s improving crossings, identifying problem spots, or advocating for better planning, I believe thoughtful, people‑centred infrastructure strengthens our whole community.

I’m also passionate about ensuring that essential services run smoothly and reliably. These are the basics that underpin a well-functioning town, yet when they fall short, the impact is felt by all of us. I want to bring a practical, solutions‑focused approach to the council, working closely with residents to flag issues, chase responses, and help make sure services are delivered to the standard our community deserves.
